The Lily Daly Foundation
The Lily Daly Foundation (LDF) was set up in Memory of Lily Daly with the aim to support and help
as many families as possible in hospital who have kids with Heart related issues. The LDF goal is
to raise funds to provide supports and services to the families with loved ones in hospital with
heart related issues by running public fund-raising events which the LDF plans to run over the coming years.
Lily’s Pink Challenge
The first of these events called “Lily’s Pink Challenge” takes place on:
Saturday the 16th of September 2023 in Killarney Co. Kerry.
All proceeds raised in 2023 will be directed to two facilities that have a strong association with the LDF, namely:
- The Heart Centre in Crumlin Children’s Hospital and
- The Ronald McDonald house in Dublin.
The event will involve a 60k cycle starting at Killarney Race Course climb the Gap of Dunloe and back
to the Race course via Molls Gap. The run is 10k again starting at Killarney Race Course entering at
Ross Castle, through Killarney National Park and back to Killarney Race course. The Cycle and run can
be done as an Individual or as a relay. There is also the option to partake in the walk/run 10k by
yourself, with family and friends entirely at your own pace.

About Lily Daly
Lily was born on the 21st of June 2019. When she was 7 weeks old she entered in to a world that became so familiar to both Lily and her parents for the next two years and that was the Heart Centre in CHI Crumlin. Lily had her first open heart surgery at 10 weeks old.
Her parents were told the outcome would be 50/50 but thankfully the surgery was successful, and Lily and her family returned home to Kerry in October 2019. Four weeks later, Lily and her parents were back up to Dublin in a traumatic ambulance blue light journey supported by a Garda escort.
Lily’s parents were told the most devasting news that Lily had scar tissue around her heart resulting in a very rare condition known as Pulmonary Vein Stenosis a condition that unfortunately there is no cure.
